School Policies

Official GCA blueprints outlining daily physical operations, attendance, dress codes, medical sickbay regulations, and technological boundaries.

Effective Date: September 1st, 2025 Last Updated: June 17th, 2026 Authority: GCA Board of Governors

1 Academic Grading & Exam Policies

Continuous Assessment (CA) represents a major share of GCA's scholastic curriculum, ensuring children are evaluated consistently rather than entirely on high-stress single final exam periods:

  • Score Breakdown: Under Taraba educational models, individual student final results per subject are compiled using the ratio: 40% Continuous Assessments (composed of weekly tasks, practical notebooks, and mid-term assessments) and 60% Final Terminal Examinations.
  • Exam Workspace Entries: Admission into final terminal test sessions is strictly subject to acquiring an official Financial Clearance slip signed physically at the Admissions Desk, and presenting a physical GCA student identity badge.
  • Zero Malpractice Tolerances: Cheating, copying scripts, importing notes/phone screens, or exchanging answer materials leads to an automatic zero grade for that subject session and immediate referral to the GCA Panel of Integrity.

2 Attendance, Truancy, & Lateness

Rhythm and discipline begin in the morning. Punctuality is actively tracked and rewarded at Glory Children’s Academy:

  • Daily Resumption Time: The main academy gates open at exactly 7:15 AM. Official school assembly devotions and national anthems commence at 7:40 AM.
  • Gate Closures: Secondary and primary gates close at exactly 7:55 AM. Students arriving after of this time are flagged as "Late" on class registers. Late arrivals must carry physical permit slips from the duty teacher before class entry.
  • Exit Clearances: No student is permitted to bypass the campus security lines during lesson hours without acquiring a physical Sign-Out pass countersigned by either their respective level coordinator or the principal.

3 Student Dress Code & Grooming

To minimize visual divisions and emphasize personal pride, GCA enforces strict, professional dress metrics:

  • Male Students: Royal blue customized GCA trousers, clean short-sleeved sky blue shirts (conformance-fitted with official crest badges and ties), dark black leather belt configurations, plain navy socks, and clean flat dark-black formal shoes.
  • Female Students: Royal blue pleated pinafores or custom secondary-length skirts, clean sky blue tailored blouses (with official school badges), plain navy-blue socks, and flat black leather shoes. Female students of Islamic conviction are fully cleared and expected to wear high-contrast, pure-white formal school hijabs.
  • Hair and Nails: Haircuts of male students must be low, clean-shaven, and balanced. Elaborate fades, long designs, or dye accents are banned. Female student hair must be braided in matching school patterns as decided termly by level coordinators. Long finger nails or color polish coatings are banned.
Uniform Enforcement: Duty teachers run checks during morning assemblies. Offending students will not be allowed past assemblies until corrected. Parents must purchase replacements for torn, stained, or outgrown outfits.

4 Health, Safety, & Medical Rules

Healthy children learn efficiently. GCA operates under safe administrative health frameworks:

  • Primary Sickbay: A safe, air-conditioned primary treatment room is operated under the custody of certified duty healthcare advisors. Sickbay assets are limited to basic first-aid, transient rest, and temperature controls.
  • Illness Reporting: Parents are requested to physically keep home any student displaying indicators of contagious illness (such as acute malaria fever, contagious conjunctivitis, or high coughs) until cleared by certified healthcare clinics.
  • Emergency Protocols: If a student undergoes active medical distress during lesson operations, GCA will administer immediate stabilizing care, contact the parent, and if needed coordinate rapid transportation to GCA's affiliate Taraba State General Hospital setups.

5 Device Sanctions & Lab Apparatus Rules

Safe technology usage ensures high focus during school sessions:

  • Personal Cell-Phone Bans: Individual students (enrolled in Nursery, Primary, or secondary lines) are strictly forbidden from smuggling personal cellular phones, digital watches, screen tablets, or music earbuds onto campus.
  • Confiscation Rules: Banned electronic products detected on students will be confiscated immediately by staff. These items will not be given back to students. Only the child's parent or legal guardian can physically collect the item by visiting the principal's office and signing a pledge form.
  • Laboratory Integrity: Scientific glassware and computers in the ICT block represent joint investments. Reckless damage to lab gear will result in the student's parents replacing or paying for the damages.

6 Campus Safety & Pick-up Policies

Student physical security is paramount on our Jalingo site:

  • Lesson Hours Lockdowns: The main academy access point is secure during school hours. Casual visits to students are prohibited. Emergency deliveries must be made at the Arrivals gate cabinet or left with duty guards.
  • Closing Time Clearance: Closing sessions occur at exactly 1:45 PM for Nursery, and 2:30 PM for Primary & Secondary levels. Parents are encouraged to make timely transport arrangements.
  • Safe Pick-up Permits: Standard nursery and lower primary cohorts are only released to legal parents or designated drivers possessing official school pickup identity passes.
